Burglemnitz is a small village with 39 houses on the eastern edge of the Thuringian Forest . The village has 105 inhabitants (as of December 2010) and is part of the municipality of Remptendorf in the Saale-Orla district .

geography

The village is nestled against the southern flank of a 580 meter high mountain, called Galgenhügel . The place is only a little off the federal highway 90 , but cannot be used for through traffic due to its location and shape in the road network. The Burglemnitz district has an area of ​​290 hectares.

With the KomBus line 630 , Burglemnitz has a connection to the core town of Remptendorf and the city of Bad Lobenstein .

history

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1413, the first written mention comes from 1417. At that time the name of the place was still Lemnitz . Around 1582 the name changed to Burgk Lemnitz . In the middle of the village there was a manor, which was first mentioned around 1450. Today the church is located in the center of the village with a surrounding cemetery wall, which is a listed building. The place was until 1918 in the Leutenberg area of ​​the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

During the time of the GDR , Burglemnitz belonged to the Lobenstein district in the Gera district . After 1990, it was a member of the Saale-Sormitz-Höhen administrative community until it was incorporated into the district reform in Thuringia on July 1, 1999. Since then, it has been a part of the Remptendorf community .

There are two craft businesses in the village. Holiday apartments and a lounge are available for vacationers. The fire brigade association of the Burglemnitz volunteer fire brigade organizes many local events.
