Away from main roads, in the middle of forests and meadows, the village of Lückenmühle is located in a trough-like high plateau of the south-east Thuringian slate mountains. history

The hamlet was first mentioned in 1624.

On the way from the village to the hamlet Weisbach Lückenmühle was a small castle , which later in a Freihof opened. It is probably a fortified mansion . Remnants of the system can still be seen.

Now there is a "mother-child health resort Lückenmühle" there.

During the GDR era, VEB Starkstrom-Anlagenbau Leipzig / Halle ran the children's holiday camp "Lore Schacht" in Joachimsmühle .

Holidays in the countryside are offered by the farmers. Agriculture and forestry have always been practiced. Young cattle stand in the pastures and meadows.

A sawmill is also available.
