St. Johannes in Pfützthal

St. Johannes is a listed Protestant church in the village of Pfützthal in the district of Salzmünde in the unified municipality of Salzatal in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 55324 . It belongs to the parish of Müllerdorf in the parish of Halle-Saalkreis of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The Romanesque sacred building, consecrated to John the Evangelist , with its church tower at the northwest corner of the nave , is a rather atypical church building for this area. The church tower is largely in its original state, whereas the nave was changed between 1688 and 1697. The church was probably damaged during the Thirty Years War . Another renovation took place in 1848 by Friedrich August Ritter . Today's nave is Romanesque in the south, baroque in the main part and neo-Gothic in the west .

According to records from the 16th century, the church was formerly a parish church and was consecrated to St. Catherine .
