The Catholic branch church of St. John the Baptist in Hadorf , a district of Starnberg in Bavaria , was probably built before the 12th century. The church at Dorfstrasse 24 is a protected architectural monument .

history

The church was the foundation of a nobleman as a separate church , it was provided with the rights of a parish church . The independence as a parish was lost again in the middle of the 15th century when the place came to the Andechs monastery .

architecture

Nothing has survived from the time it was originally built. The oldest parts, the tower substructure and the western wall of the nave, date from the middle of the 13th and early 14th centuries.

In the 17th / 18th In the 17th century the church was rebuilt, adding a sacristy and widening the nave. The hall building and the tower are each of a gable roof covered.

Furnishing

From the main altar from the early 17th century, the painting has Baptism of Christ received. In 1677 two baroque side altars and a new pulpit were purchased.

In 1763 the church was decorated with stucco and ceiling frescoes in the Rococo style .
