St. Lambertus (Ascheberg)
The Catholic parish church of St. Lambertus is a listed church building in Ascheberg , a municipality in the Coesfeld district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
History and architecture
The church, first mentioned around 1022, is probably an original parish of St. Liudger , it was probably founded until the middle of the ninth century. The spacious late Gothic hall church of four yokes with high ascending vaults with high three-lane tracery windows with fish bladder figurations. The name 1524 can be found under the south-eastern window. The rectangular choir was built from brick in 1737 according to a design by Johann Conrad Schlaun . The richly decorated neo-Gothic west tower with two-storey chapel extensions was added in 1909 under the supervision of Ludwig Becker. In September 2016, the church tower was named Monument of the Month in Westphalia-Lippe by LWL Monument Preservation, Landscape and Building Culture in Westphalia .

- The altarpiece from the 17th century, depicting the Descent from the Cross , originally comes from a church in Kirchhundem.

Bells
In the tower there is a six-part bronze bell with bells from different epochs. The warped tone line of the large bells gives the ringing its unmistakable character.
