St. Lambertus in Kirchdaun , a district of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is a Roman Catholic parish church that was mentioned as early as the 12th century. The church is a protected cultural monument .

history

The Church dedicated to St. Lambertus as patron saint was first mentioned in a document in 1131 when Pope Innocent II confirmed the fourth part of a foundation in the church to the Cassius pen in Bonn .

The choir , built in the first half of the 14th century, is still preserved from the medieval church . This serves as a baptistery.

architecture

The nave was replaced by a neo-Gothic building in 1909 according to plans by Caspar Clemens Pickel , who also built St. Johannes Nepomuk in the nearby manger . The old tower was demolished in 1921 because it was in disrepair .

A complete renovation of the facade was carried out from 2002 to 2005. The interior has almost completely the appearance of 1909 with its wall painting , the floor tiles and the historicized lead glass windows . The rose window above the portal shows St. Cäcilia as organist.
