St. Laurentius (Buchheim)
The village church of St. Laurentius is located in the Buchheim district in the Heideland community in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Königshofen in the church district Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The church was built in 1865/66 on the site of a previous one in the neo-Gothic style. In 1872 the carved altar reredos of the previous church, probably built around 1510/1520 in the vicinity of the "Master of the Friedensdorfer Altar", was sold to the Society of History and Antiquities Research of the Osterland and was taken to the castle museum in Altenburg . It has been on permanent loan in the Bartholomäikirche in Altenburg since 1990 .
architecture
The floor plan of the church is like a cross . In the southern arm of the cross is the sacristy , in the north the morgue . The Gothic shrine to the sacraments and the pulpit , which was created by Hans Gerge in the Renaissance period, still come from the old church .
organ
The organ was created and installed by Christoph Opitz from Dobra .
Bells
In the belfry hangs a bell from 1605, which comes from Erfurt . The other two bells fell victim to both world wars . Today a steel bell rings next to the old bronze bell .
Renovation work
The church tower was once slated. During the roof renovation in 1980 it received light blue shingles .
