St. Laurentius (Liersberg)
The St. Laurentius Church is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Liersberg district of the Igel parish in the Trier-Saarburg district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).
history
A church in Liersberg is mentioned for the first time in 1241. The rights to the church and the parish were owned by the St. Irminen Abbey in Oeren. Nothing more is known of this church. In 1686 a new church was built in the form of a single-nave hall church in the Baroque style. In 1846 the church was rebuilt, as in 1949. In 1960 the roof turret was removed and a bell tower made of rubble was added to the east .
Furnishing
In the church there is a figure of St. Lawrence and a figure of the Madonna with the baby Jesus. Both are brightly painted. The rest of the equipment is modern.
