The Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius is a listed church building in Meerhof , a district of the city of Marsberg , in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The neo-Romanesque hall church with a semicircular apse faces west; it was built in 1914 under the direction of Franz Mündelein . The sacristy rooms are arranged in the manner of a choir ambulatory. The richly structured church tower stands in the middle of the east transverse structure. Inside, ridge vaults rest on round pillars, the apse is 4/8 rib vaulted .

Furnishing

  • Some of the furnishings come from the previous churches, some were created for construction or were acquired. Since 2004, several items of equipment have also been included in the list of monuments.

In 2000 the church was entered in the list of monuments of the city of Marsberg. The equipment comes partly from the previous churches, partly it was created or acquired for the building. Since 2004, several items of equipment have also been included in the list of monuments.

  • Three finely crafted sculptures: a representation of Christ on the main portal and a figure of St. Meinolf and St. Liborius in the interior . They were made from Baumberger sandstone around 1500 .

Tithe barn

Next to the church is the former tithe barn of the Dalheim monastery . The gable , rectangular building was built in 1721. It was covered with a hipped roof and is structured with sandstones. The rear residential part was added around 1900.
