The Martini Church

The Protestant village church St. Martini is in the Mülverstedt district of the Unstrut-Hainich community in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

history

The church was built in 1703 in place of a previous building. The church tower was rebuilt in 1698. Until 1775, the von Mülverstedt family was buried here in brick-lined graves . The grave slabs were placed on the church wall during work on the floor of the church in 1949.

Interior

After the pulpit was installed in 1726, a gallery was built on the right . The left gallery was used exclusively by the patrons of Mülverstedt . In 1950 the galleries were overhauled and lengthened by two meters. The sacristy , which previously served as a wood store , was also renovated. The church stalls and the floor were replaced.

A lightning strike in 1935 ignited the rotten tower framework, which then had to be completely renovated, including the tower button with a cross . The tower clock dates from 1889, the predecessor from 1698.

The organ was consecrated on October 17, 1927. For the two bells melted down in the world wars , new ones were purchased in 1968.

In the 1990s the nave was re-covered with own funds. The church has been painstakingly restored. ABM forces took further conservation measures into their hands from 2001 onwards.
