The Roman Catholic Church of St. Matthew is in the municipality of Arenshausen in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

The Arenshausen church was first mentioned in the 15th century . The church tower was built in the middle of the 18th century and the former nave was built in 1755 . In 1919 the parish built the new church on the site of the previous church. The bell tower of the previous church was included in the construction. The inauguration took place in 1920 and on June 28, 1923 the consecration with Bishop Kaspar Klein from Paderborn .

In 1930 the baroque high altar was erected and consecrated. In 1969 built the renovation at a sanctuary in order. The high altar and the altar of Our Lady were torn down and a celebration altar was built, which was consecrated by Bishop Hugo Aufderbeck on June 12, 1971. New chairs were also built in.
