The Expositurkirche St. Michael in Kirchberg is the Roman Catholic church of the former village and today's district of Eggenfelden .

Building description

The current Gothic church dates from the 15th century. The number 1481 is found in the apex of the choir . The choir and nave are the same height and the nave is only slightly wider than the choir. The church is covered by a ribbed vault. Most of the interior decoration dates from the 17th century. The tower added to the north of the choir is an addition from the 19th century. It consists of a lower part with a square cross-section and an octagonal upper part crowned by an eight-sided pointed helmet.

history

The church was renovated in a neo-Gothic style in the 19th century . In 1972 it was completely modernized, whereby only individual pieces of the neo-Gothic furnishings were used. In 2014 the church was separated from the parish of Taufkirchen and incorporated into the parish of Eggenfelden as a branch .

In 2015, the building was fundamentally refurbished with external repairs and an interior redesign. This also includes a number of small works of art by Joseph Michael Neustifter . In addition, has air conditioning installed, to protect the mural. The altar was consecrated on October 11, 2015 by Auxiliary Bishop Reinhard Pappenberger . The church is a cultural monument due to the Bavarian Monument Protection Act .
