Parish Church of St. Michael

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Michael is in the village of Walchsing in the municipality of Aldersbach in the Passau district in Lower Bavaria .

Church building

The church, consecrated to the Archangel Michael , is a late Gothic building from the late 15th century with an older Romanesque choir tower . The four-bay nave has a reticulated vault over fluted shield arches on semicircular services with capitals . The double-filleted ribs were configured in a bent row. The decorative painting shows tendrils and flowers. The square choir has a high star vault with asymmetrically warped diamond configurations . The west gallery is arched with three bays and has keel arch openings profiled towards the nave .

Furnishing

The high altar from more recent times, based on the early Baroque model, fits well into the choir thanks to its steep proportions. The side altars date from 1731. The left side altar bears late Gothic figures of Saints Maria Magdalena and Katharina from the end of the 15th century. On the choir arch are the figures of Saint Stephen and Leonhard around 1500.
