history

Branch church in Rödinghausen

The Catholic parish in the north-western part of the Herford district was created as a result of the population shifts after the end of the Second World War . Before that, their area belonged to the parish of St. Joseph in Bünde. In 1947 the first pastor was appointed for the area, and in 1948 the Holsen Curate was founded.

Initially, the services were held in makeshift rooms, schools and in the Protestant churches of Rödinghausen and Bieren . In 1950 a building site was acquired in Holsen, on which the first Michael’s Chapel was built in 1952 with the support of the Bonifatius Association in Paderborn .

The church building, which still exists today, was erected in 1966. The former chapel was converted into a parish hall in 1986 .
