St. Michael is a Roman Catholic branch church of the Ebenhausen parish in Zell , a district of Schäftlarn in the Munich district . The church is a listed building .

history

St. Michael is considered to be the oldest church building in the community. According to a plaque on the church, it was consecrated on December 1, 1206. The church was in the 13./14. Century built on the basis of an already existing building. Extensions took place in the 15th century and 1730. The cemetery was consecrated in 1574 and the cemetery wall was built in 1910. The doll maker Käthe Kruse is buried in the Zell cemetery.

The core of the Church of St. Michael is a Romanesque hall building with a strongly recessed rectangular choir . The sacristy is attached to it . The church has a roof turret with an onion hood .

Frescoes

In the choir arch reveal there are frescoes depicting Cain and Abel from the 13th / 14th centuries. Century. A red chalk drawing on the north choir wall also dates from this time . The frescoes on the choir vault and on the south wall of the choir are dated to the 15th century. The symbols of the evangelists are depicted on the choir vault and fragments of a saint's life have been preserved on the southern wall of the choir. On the forehead of the choir arch you can see angels making music.
