St. Nikolaus / Eggen ( Italian: San Nicolò / Ega ) is a fraction of the municipality Deutschnofen in the South Tyrolean Eggental ( Italy ) with approx. 900 inhabitants. Eggen include the villages of Eggen, Birchabruck , Obereggen and Rauth.

In Birchabruck, the Eggental is divided into two branches. The eastern branch leads to Welschnofen and the Karer Pass . The southern branch offers space for Eggen, Obereggen and Rauth and leads to the Reiterjoch and Lavazèjoch .

St. Nikolaus / Eggen was founded in the 14th century. The patron saint is Saint Nicholas, who was called the savior from the danger of water . Until 1681 Eggen was under ecclesiastical care from Deutschnofen.

Eggen lives mainly from agriculture and from tourism , as the in Obereggen located Latemar Ski Center is a popular winter sports resort.
