History and architecture

The building stands in the middle of the village at the village anger . The previous building was demolished in the 16th century and replaced by a new building. The drawn-in west tower made of quarry stone is decorated with corner blocks and plastered. It is crowned with a slipped pointed helmet and has four corner turrets. When the church was demolished in 1736, the tower was preserved. The new quarry stone nave is plastered. The walls are high segmental arch windows in stone jambs divided. The choir closes on three sides. The wooden barrel vault from the construction period has been preserved and shows motifs of the Last Judgment as well as depictions of Christ. The gallery shows pictorial representations in the parapet fields. The German Foundation for Monument Protection is funding the renovation of the church tower. The church is a station on pilgrimage Loccum-Volkenroda .'
