St. Nikolaus (Lützeroda)
The village church of St. Nikolaus is in the Lützeroda district of the city of Jena in Thuringia .
location
The place is four kilometers northwest of Jena and the village church at the northwest exit of the village in the middle of the Gottesacker .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1236. At this time the church is said to have already been in the churchyard.
architecture
The Romanesque branch church is a hall church with a slightly retracted choir . Romanesque masonry can still be seen on the south side. The church tower from 1719 above the chancel with a square wooden tower is crowned with a small tail dome with a lantern . It was renewed in 1985/86.
Three stones on the east side of the choir with simple relief representations cannot be defined. There is a walled-up arched window on the south side . The other windows are from the time of the renovation. The choir square is closed on the inside by a barrel vault .
