St. Peter and Paul (Auw near Prüm)
The Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Auw bei Prüm , a local community in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate , was built in the first half of the 16th century. The church at Rother Straße 1 is a protected cultural monument .
The church tower is said to have been built at the beginning of the 11th century. In 1957/58 a new building was added to the old church. Many villagers donated some cattle to build the church. To commemorate this, a bronze cow was attached to the entrance doors as a handle.
The high altar from 1648 and the two recently restored side altars from 1658, on which paintings of the towns of Auw (in the Marien Altar) and Schlausenbach (in the Joseph Altar) can be seen, are worth seeing .
The wooden pulpit from the 18th century is decorated with reliefs of the evangelists .
