history

The Romanesque subsidiary church of Gumperda was in 1221 by the bishop to Havelberg the St. Peter consecrated.

description

The roof over the nave dates from 1393, the hipped roof of the tower is from 1616. The ogival windows on the south side are assigned to the 16th century. The altar bears the year 1427. The Lord's Supper is from the late 13th century.

The special feature of the bell is its historically valuable carved inscriptions. It is one of the oldest bells in Thuringia and was cast from bronze at the end of the 13th century. Its six- legged bell crown with the surrounding inscription Verbum caro factum est habitavit in nobis (according to John 1:14 - in German: The word became flesh and lived among us ) is characteristic.

In 1971/72 the church got its present appearance. The pulpit altar was expanded and the organ moved from the choir to the west side.
