The Catholic parish church of St. Petrus is the listed village church of Schweinersdorf in the Freising district ( Upper Bavaria ). The church with its onion dome , which can be seen from afar, is located in the northern area of ​​the village on the connecting road to Altfalterbach . The namesake of the church is the apostle Simon Peter .

Building history

The choir , nave and tower of the church were created in 1708 by master mason Balthasar Thalhammer from Moosburg on the Isar in the Baroque style. According to plans by the Munich architect Georg Berlinger , the building was extended to the west by an octagonal dome in 1928. In 1947 the tower was raised by three meters.

The altar shows in the center a wooden figure of the church patron Simon Petrus, about 140 centimeters high. In the side niches there are two smaller figures showing John the Baptist and the Evangelist John . The late baroque altar was built in Surberg around 1710 . It was acquired in 1962 by the Schweinersdorf pastor Ferdinand Hasenöhrl and placed in the parish church.

Parish

The parish of Schweinersdorf includes the three branch churches in Altfalterbach , Inzkofen and Sixthaselbach . About 500 Catholics live in the parish.
