Architecture and history

The foundation stone for the church was laid in the late Romanesque period in the 12th to 13th centuries. A hall made of field and quarry stones and a tower on its west side were built.

Major structural changes were made in the 15th century. As an extension, a choir room closed on three sides was created, and the nave was covered flat. Since then, the choir and nave have windows in the shape of pointed arches.

In 1657 the church was partially destroyed in a fire. It was rebuilt and rebuilt in the Baroque style around 1718 . The church was plastered and received two new additions that still exist today. So a tower with a square floor plan, hipped roof , eight-sided lantern and a French dome was built again on the west side . A two-storey extension was added to the north of the choir. This part of the building with tall rectangular windows houses the sacristy and a mansion's box. A coat of arms above the west portal commemorates the former von Stammer estate . In one wall of the choir there is a sacrament niche and a piscina . Two relief tombstones from the Renaissance period have been preserved in the entrance area . They are dated to the years 1582 and 1584.
