St. Simon and St. Judas Thaddäus (Poppenlauer)
The Church of St. Simon and St. Judas Thaddäus is a Roman Catholic church in Poppenlauer , a district of Maßbach in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .
It belongs to the architectural monuments of Maßbach and is registered under the number D-6-72-131-22 in the Bavarian list of monuments .
history
Poppenlauer was a branch of the Wermerichshausen parish . The present church was rebuilt in 1854 (year on the northwest corner) in neo-Gothic style. The foundations of high and late medieval predecessor buildings are still located under today's church building .
Description and equipment
The church consists of the nave with three window axes , the choir in the east and the tower in the south. The octagonal upper floor of the tower stands out on the square base. The sacristy was probably added to the north side of the nave in more recent times. There is a large crucifixion group in the choir . To the right and left of the choir arch are wooden figures of St. Joseph and St. Mary . On the north wall of the nave you can see St. Simon with the saw, opposite St. Jude Thaddäus with the club.
