Filial church St. Ulrich in Ebenhausen

St. Ulrich is a Roman Catholic side church in Ebenhausen , a district of the market place Pfeffenhausen in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut , in the middle of the hilly landscape of the Hallertau .

history

The late-Gothic building was built in the 15th century, when Ebenhausen part of Hofmarksherrschaft was Hornbach. St. Ulrich still belongs to the parish of St. Laurentius in Niederhornbach as a side church . In the 1970s, the church, originally designed as a bright brick building, was preserved from the outside with lime sludge to protect the building fabric . The roof turret above the west gable was also renewed at that time . In 2004 the church building was subjected to an extensive renovation for the last time .

architecture

The simple little church comprises a nave with two window axes and a retracted choir , which - as in Niederhorn and Oberhornbach - closes on three octagonal sides. The pointed choir arch , the windows in the choir and the entrance portal on the south side have been preserved in their original state. On the west side of the roof ridge rises a slender, wood-paneled roof turret with a cranked, copper-covered pointed helmet . The interior of the choir and nave have a flat wooden ceiling.

Furnishing

The high altar with volutes and curved altar vases dates from the late rococo period around 1770/80. The altarpiece shows Saint Ulrich of Augsburg as Bishop of Augsburg at the battle of the Lechfeld in 955. As side figures, St. Benedict and St. Leonhard flank the altar. The filigree rotating tabernacle is a baroque altar that was originally set up in the Niederhornbach castle chapel. It is supported by six winding columns and contains the wooden figures of St. Peter and St. Paul in niches .

Two paintings from the 17th century take the place of side altars: on the left the risen Christ in the original frame, on the right the Mother of God with St. Ulrich and St. Sebastian .
