history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 868 as part of a gift from David and his wife Erhilt von Hornbach to the St. Emmeram monastery in Regensburg. The right of patronage over the church in Hornbach was to 1246 the Cathedral Chapter of Regensburg, which it to the monastery Ebersberg transferred. In 1253, Hornbach was separated from the Pfeffenhausen parish by Bishop Albert von Regensburg and became an independent parish .

Hornbach formed a Hofmark owned by Ebersberg Monastery, which the Maroldinger enfeoffed with it since the middle of the 15th century. The last two young Maroldingers stayed in the Thirty Years' War in 1636 . The elector donated the Hofmark to the Jesuits from the estates that had fallen back to the sovereign . It was supposed to go to the Munich Jesuits first, fell to the Jesuit College in Landshut in 1639 and was then subject to the Jesuit College in Munich from 1652/1658 until the Jesuit order was dissolved in 1773 . Towards the end of the 18th century, the Hofmark Hornbach belonged to the Counts of Lodron .

The community Niederhornbach emerged from the tax district Hornbach, belonged to the district court Rottenburg, district office Rottenburg and finally to the district Rottenburg an der Laaber . It was incorporated into the Pfeffenhausen market on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
