history

The area is one of the old settlements used since the Stone Age. Around the 12th century, a noble family of Ebran lived here. In 1527 the castle came to the Puschen, then in 1580 by Sigmund Viehauser to the barons of Viehhausen and finally to the counts of Gazzoldo. At the end of the 16th century, the Hofmark was married to Count Alfonso von Portia, in whose line it remained until 1813. Then in 1840 the barons of Cetto married the barons of Cetto, who own it to this day.

In 1613 the Hofmark Oberlauterbach comprised four whole and eight half farms as well as 22 Sölden. In the Thirty Years War , the Swedes destroyed the place on May 13, 1632. The castle remained in ruins and was rebuilt in 1666. A manor settlement was built around the 448 hectare manorial property.

With the abolition of serfdom in 1809, the formation of political communities from 1811 and the dissolution of the patrimonial courts in 1848, the social position of the local residents changed. As part of the freedom of trade, handicrafts and trades could now develop in the village. Around 1840 the settlement consisted of 19 cottagers, 14 day laborers, 13 craftsmen and five smaller farmers. After the rule, the landlord was the largest landowner with 26.8 hectares. The 0.40 hectare hop cultivation was tied to the rule of the castle.

Unterlauterbach and Unterbuch were split off in 1847 as a separate municipality from the municipality of Oberlauterbach formed in 1818 by the Bavarian municipal edict and now included, in addition to Oberlauterbach, the towns of Baldershausen, Hochreit, Indorf, Ludmannsdorf, Mantlach, Thonhausen and Weikersdorf. In 1970 Oberlauterbach had 387 residents, who still largely earned their livelihood from hop culture and other agriculture and forestry. Despite persistent resistance, the municipality of Oberlauterbach was incorporated into the municipality of Pfeffenhausen on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . In the second half of the 20th century, numerous single-family houses were built on both sides of the Lauterbach.

Ecclesiastically, Oberlauterbach has belonged to the parish of Pürkwang since time immemorial .
