The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Vitus is a late Gothic hall church in the village of Törring in the town of Tittmoning in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein . It belongs to the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Taching am See in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

history

A Romanesque predecessor is assumed. A renewed year 1274 is recorded on the tower. The church was rebuilt around 1500, with the lower floors of the tower being preserved. The double onion hood was put on in 1773. Around 1880 the altars and the pulpit were created by the sculptor Paul Horchler; the version was made by the painter Schiegl from Burghausen. Around the same time, the expansion of the south side of the choir with neo-Gothic window frames and the installation of the gallery and the stations of the cross were made. The side altar was lost when the organ was installed. A renovation took place from 1972 to 1975.

Architecture and equipment

The church stands on a hill that slopes steeply towards the village green. The four-bay nave is followed by a single-bay choir that has not been drawn in with a five-eighth end . The west tower is in the axis of the church. The sacristy is attached to the south. The interior of the church has a reticulated vault . The building is comparable to the churches in Taching am See, Tengling and Coloman . In contrast to the examples mentioned, the far-reaching choir arch forms a clear break between the four-bay nave and the choir. Accordingly, the wall-dividing components and arches are different in both parts of the room. While in the choir a net vault with continuous belt ribs and two keystones rests on beveled wall templates with round services and rounded capitals, in the nave a parallel rib vault is drawn in on wall templates with grooved sides with polygonal capitals. A special feature are the noses on the middle rhombuses and the ribs richly profiled with chamfers and pear rod .

The main piece of equipment is the neo-Gothic altar construction with the figures of Mary and the saints Rupertus and Korbinian , in conversation narrow the saints are Vitus , Catherine and Barbara presented. The pulpit cage shows the four church fathers next to Christ on the parapet . A baroque crucifix hangs in the choir arch.
