The Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction ( Russian Томский Государственный Архитектурно-Строительный Университет (ТГАСУ) ) is a technical university in the western Siberian city of Tomsk . It is considered one of the leading construction universities in Russia.

history

Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction was founded in 1952 as the Tomsk Institute for Civil Engineers . The teaching was in the building of the First Siberian Technical School for Commerce, created by the Siberian architecture professor Konstantin K. Lygin (1854-1932). In 1953 it was renamed the Tomsk Institute of Engineering and Construction . In 1993 the Tomsk State Institute of Architecture and Construction was renamed the Tomsk State Academy of Architecture and Construction . In 1997 it was transformed into the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction.

At the university, around 14,000 students and around 4,000 distance students and over 1,500 students in postgraduate training courses study in 39 subjects in the field of architecture and civil engineering. They are supervised by 400 lecturers, including 83 professors, and over 1000 academic staff. In addition to its headquarters in Tomsk, the university has locations in Streschewoi , Belovo , Leninsk-Kuznetsky , Assino and Parabel .

Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction is a member of international and Russian institutes, the Academy of Engineering of the Russian Federation, the International Academy of Higher Education, the Russian Academy of Local Economy. International university partnerships exist in particular with the Ohio State University , USA, the British Institution of Civil Engineers , the University of Ulsan , South Korea, and the University of Magdeburg .

The current rector is Mikhail Ivanovich Slobodskoi.
