Hans-Peter Blossfeld headed the institute between 2003 and 2012 . Henriette Engelhardt-Wölfler has been the director of the institute since 2012 .

organization structure

The ifb is a scientifically independent institute. It is both a subordinate authority of the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs (StMAS) and an affiliated institute of the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg .

At the ifb, an interdisciplinary team from the fields of sociology, psychology, education and demography specializes in the field of family research. Policy advice forms a third pillar . This includes the elaboration of statements and reports on questions of family development or the living situation of families.
