The Olympic Ice Stadium ( Italian Stadio Olimpico ) in Cortina d'Ampezzo was built between 1952 and 1955 and opened for the 1956 Winter Olympics . It is located on Via A. Bonacossa 1 .
history
When it opened in 1955 and at the Olympic Games the following year, the stadium was not yet covered. This was only added during later expansion work in 2002, when the audience capacity fell from 7,000 standing and 5,000 seats to 2,000 seats for sporting events and 2,700 for show events. Since then the stadium has been known as Nuovo Stadio Olimpico .
