The Stadio Piergiovanni Mecchia is a football stadium with velodrome in the northeastern Italian city of Portogruaro in the province of Venice , Region Veneto .

history

The stadium, which opened in 1947, is the home of the Calcio Portogruaro Summaga football club (re-established as Portogruaro Calcio ASD in 2013) and was built with financial help from Pier Giovanni Mecchia. Furthermore, the velodrome of cement used to this day. The sports facility has 3,335 seats in the stands for visitors and the playing field is made of natural grass . The main stand with 2,000 seats is partially covered. On the uncovered opposite stand are u. a. 835 seats for the guest fans. There are 25 workstations available for journalists.

In the 2010/11 season, after the rise of the Calcio Portogruaro Summaga, the first Serie B games took place in the Portogruaro stadium.

The cycling track opened in 1947 with a race in which popular drivers like Giordano Cottur , Antonio Bevilacqua , Adolfo Leoni and Giovanni Pinarello participated, later Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali also started there .

In 2016, after a comprehensive renovation, the start curve of the cycling track was dedicated to racing cyclist Sergio Bianchetto , in 2017 the finish curve was named after Silvio Martinello during the Due Giorni di Portogruaro and on the occasion of the track's 70th anniversary . The Italian cyclist Francesco Lamon , national champion in points racing, started cycling on this track.
