Stadtbad Dornbirn
The Stadtbad Dornbirn (own spelling the Stadtbad ) is an indoor swimming pool in the Austrian city of Dornbirn .
The pool was built after two years of construction at the end of 2005 from the general renovation of the old municipal indoor pool. The new pool is owned by Dornbirner Sport- und Freizeitbetriebe GmbH , a company of the city of Dornbirn. The building is located on the L190 city road in the Markt district .
Facility
The indoor pool has several pools : a 24.7 × 12.2 m multi-purpose pool, a 25 × 16.66 m sports pool, a 9 × 11.7 m non-swimmer pool and a pool for small children. In addition, there is a 46 m long tube slide with a height of 7 meters and water, light and sound effects as well as a diving tower and a diving board . In addition, there is a sauna area , a massage area and a restaurant area. In the summer months, the Stadtbad closes for a month, during which time the Enz forest pool can be used.
history
In 1967, the construction of Vorarlberg's first municipal indoor swimming pool in Dornbirn began. Just two years later, on September 20, 1969, Mayor Karl Bohle was able to hand over the building to its intended use. A total of around 30 million schillings (around 2.2 million euros) had been invested in this first construction of the indoor swimming pool . At the opening, the mayor spoke the historical words:
- "The progressive thinking city administration was of the opinion that these surely high expenses in the interest of keeping the population healthy, which is of increasing importance especially in the age of advancing mechanization and motorization with the constant haste and restlessness, are absolutely justified."
After the first onslaught of enthusiastic citizens had subsided and other municipalities in the state had also built their own public indoor pools, the number of visitors leveled off at around 130,000 per year. Since the opening, around 5.4 million visitors have been counted. The new construction of the swimming pool in 2004/05 was planned and executed by the architects cukrowicz.nachbaur in Bregenz . In 2007 the Austrian state swimming championships were held in the Stadtbad Dornbirn . In 2008, the architectural office and the city of Dornbirn were awarded the State Prize for Architecture for Tourism and Leisure for the new building of the Stadtbad . With around 185,000 visitors, the 2012/2013 financial year was by far the most successful year for the Stadtbad Dornbirn since the indoor pool opened.
