Abenberg city fortifications
The city fortifications in Abenberg , a town in the Middle Franconian district of Roth ( Bavaria ), were built around 1300. The remains of the former city fortifications are protected as an architectural monument.

The fortification of the city was surrounded by a triangle, the apex of which was the castle . From the city fortifications, which were built under Bishop Konrad II (1297–1305), the former city wall made of quarry stone masonry has been preserved in parts, it has been built in or reduced in places. At the end of the 19th century it was partially destroyed.
The following towers have been preserved:
- Fortification tower, then Karzer, two-storey sandstone block building with hipped roof in Windsbacher Strasse
- Remnants of a fortification tower
- Former fortification tower, expanded as a residential building in the 19th and 20th centuries. Century, three-storey, eaves-sided sandstone block construction with a gable roof
- Former fortification tower, expanded as a residential building, three-storey sandstone block construction with a gable roof and half-timbered gable
The city fortifications also include the gates that are still in place today: Lower Gate and Upper Gate .
