The town mill is a watermill on the Schwarzbach in Bad Düben built in 1538 and first mentioned in a document in 1681 .

history

The town mill was built in 1538 and first mentioned in 1681 as an electoral official cutting mill, in 1689 it was expanded with a fulling mill and in 1697 with a grinding mill , and in 1708 an oil mill was added. The mill was driven exclusively by water power from the neighboring Schwarzbach , which flows into the Mulde river just 150 m behind the mill . In the course of a mill renovation, the town mill also received a turbine in 1886 . After the fulling mill and later the oil mill had been expanded, " Brettmühle ", also known as the tailor's mill, was shut down in 1914. In 1947 two new turbines were installed in the mill. The roller mill dates from 1940, the peeling machine from 1954 and the grinding machine from 1965. The mill is also known in the region as "Stadtmühle Schüßler", named after the mill owner and master miller Peter Schüßler, whose family has owned the mill since 1904 is. Peter Schüßler himself took over the mill in 1955 and ran it until 2016 with the production of rye flour for the surrounding bakers and fodder meal.

Memorial text

The residential mill building with extension, the weir system and the mill technology are under monument protection. The detailed capture text is as follows:

The distinctive residential mill building appears as a two-storey building with a high mansard roof (plain tile roofing) and dormer window as well as a solid ground floor and plastered half-timbering on the upper floor. The slightly forward entrance is thoughtful. The front door has been renewed. The facade is enlivened by an original profiled wooden eaves. The massive rear extension is covered by a crooked hip roof (beaver tail covering). There was already a mill on the site at the beginning of the 17th century (possibly even earlier). For a long time, the plant served as an official cutting mill, also as a fulling mill and oil mill, and to this day as a grinding mill. In 1697 a shot tunnel was installed. In 1776 a round sifter was installed to separate flour and bran. Thus pure flour without bran could be obtained. Since 1886 the system could be operated by water turbines. In 1990 the mill was rebuilt to pass milling - grinding process in one pass. The actual mill wing of the residential mill building shows the usual structure of a grain mill with a floor for the main transmission on the ground floor, grinding floor or roller mill floor, tube floor and classifier floor. A small turbine room adjoins the floor with the main transmission. The technology has been completely preserved. The main transmission is on the ground floor. Interesting pieces of equipment are the two horizontal Francis turbines from A. Wetzig from Wittenberg from 1947. A double roller mill from MIAG Braunschweig from 1940, three double roller mills from MIAG Dresden / Braunschweig from 1948, a fanal grinding machine from VEB Mühlenbauanstalt stand on the roller mill floor u. Maschinenfabrik Bad Frankenhausen (Kyffh.) From 1965 and an aspirator from A. Wetzig. The peeling machine from 1954 is on the grinding or tube base. The tube sheet (second floor) shows another double roller mill from MIAG Braunschweig from 1940 and a round filter for pneumatics / milling from A. Wetzig. A plansifter from 1989 with older parts, a dust separator (cyclone) for cleaning and the elevator winch including brake shoes of the brake elevator are on the plansifter floor. Apart from that, the pneumatic passage conveyor / pneumatics from 1949/1950 and the brake elevator can be found on the various floors. The weir system is labeled "Built in 1947 A. Felgner".
