history

Mill

The Niedermühle near the Schleifbach was first mentioned in 1351, in 1902 Max Küster sr. (born 1879 in Schwemsal , trained beer brewer) Mr. Schneider's Niedermühle. At that time it was a grinding and sawmill , and the sawmill was destroyed by fire. Max Küster sr. expanded the agriculture , built a barn and stables into a three-sided courtyard . On September 18, 1926, a bakery was added, which was an advantage for the farmers, as they put their grain into the mill and the flourthen brought them to the bakery and saved them a trip. Max Küster Sr. drove twice a week. with the horse and the bread wagon across the villages and delivered the bread to the farmers for 30 pfennigs per three kilo bread. The mill and bakery were operated by Max and Elli Küster until 1960, then the bakery was closed and the mill was stopped in the early 1960s. In 1962, the trained baker Jürgen Paetsch reopened the bakery, from then on it was baked exclusively for the HO department store . In 1978 and 1979 the bakery was enlarged by expanding stables and modernizing the facilities. Today the bakery operates three branches in Bad Düben and one in Delitzsch. It also supplies hotels, rehabilitation clinics and forest hospitals as well as delicatessen stores between Berlin and Leipzig with baked goods.
