Staffan Carlsson

Sven Staffan Carlsson (born January 13, 1948 in Fågelfors , Högsby municipality ) is a Swedish diplomat . He was ambassador to Berlin from 2010 to 2015 .

Live and act

Carlsson studied history and political science at Carleton College ( USA ) and Uppsala University . In 1975 Carlsson joined the Foreign Service and held various positions in the Swedish Foreign Ministry until 1998, including in the diplomatic missions in Moscow and Washington, DC , and from 1996 to 1998 as Director of the Department for European Security Policy .

In 1998 he was appointed ambassador to Budapest and in 2004 to London . From September 2010 to September 2015, Carlsson was Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany , based in Berlin . In November 2015 he was elected as a new member of the Board of Trustees of the International Martin Luther Foundation (IMLS).
