Ruth Jacoby

Ruth Evelyn Jacoby (born January 13, 1949 in New York ) is a Swedish diplomat and former ambassador to Berlin .

Life

Ruth Jacoby is a daughter of the Berlin- born attorney Erich Hellmuth Jacoby (1903–1979), who fled the Nazis in 1933 and in 1956 became a Swedish citizen. Her father worked at the United Nations in New York in the late 1940s and then at the World Food Organization (FAO) in Rome , where Ruth attended the German School . Until 1971 she studied economics, history and philosophy at Uppsala University .

In 1972 Jacoby entered the foreign service and held various positions in the Swedish Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions until 1998 , including at the OECD in Paris , the World Bank in Washington, DC and the United Nations in New York. In 2006 Jacoby was appointed ambassador to Germany , a position she held until 2010. Since 2010 she has been ambassador to Italy , San Marino and Albania , based in Rome .
