Stana Đurić-Klajn

Stana Đurić-Klajn ( Serbian - Cyrillic Стана Ђурић-Клајн , née Đurić, temporarily married Ribnikar; * April 22nd ^July / May 5th  1905 ^greg. (According to other information 1908) in Belgrade ; † February 18, 1986 ibid) was a Yugoslav musicologist and pianist .

Life

From 1923 to 1927 she studied comparative literature and music history at the University of Belgrade , followed by piano studies with Lazare Lévy in Paris in 1927/28 . She performed as a concert pianist until 1941. In 1932 she founded the music magazine Zvuk , which she ran until 1936 and again from 1955 to 1965.

From 1937 to 1945 she taught at a music school in Belgrade, after which she was professor for the music history of Yugoslavia at the Belgrade Music Academy until 1971, which became part of the newly founded Belgrade University of the Arts in 1957 .

family

Stana Đurić-Klajn was first married to Vladislav S. Ribnikar (1900–1955), the owner of the daily Politika , with whom she had two daughters and their son Slobodan Ribnikar (1929–2008, chemist). In her second marriage she was married to the psychologist and theater director Hugo Klajn (1894–1981), from this marriage comes the son Ivan Klajn (* 1937), a linguist.

Stana Đurić-Klajn wrote numerous articles on classical composers for the first edition of Enciklopedija Jugoslavije , the first edition of Music in the past and present and the first edition of New Grove , as well as reviews of concerts and opera performances for the newspaper Politika .
