Slobodan Ribnikar

Slobodan V. Ribnikar ( Serbian - Cyrillic Слободан В. Рибникар ; born May 24, 1929 in Belgrade ; † January 15, 2008 ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian radiochemist .

Life

Slobodan Ribnikar passed his Abitur in Belgrade in 1948 and then studied physical chemistry at the University of Belgrade . During his studies he worked from 1951 (until 1968) at the Institute for Nuclear Sciences "Boris Kidrič" . He specialized in isotope chemistry and molecular spectroscopy , graduated in 1952 and received his doctorate in 1958. Two study visits 1959–1961 and 1965–1967 took him to Long Island (USA). He later became a professor of radiochemistry at the University of Belgrade, from 1983 he was a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts . From 1975 to 1985 he was editor-in-chief of the specialist journal Glasnik Hemijskog društva Beograd (now Journal of the Serbian Chemical Society ).

Slobodan Ribnikar was the son of Vladislav S. Ribnikar (1900–1955, owner of the newspaper Politika and Politiker), from his first marriage to the musicologist Stana Ribnikar . From his second marriage to the writer Jara Ribnikar (1912-2007), Slobodan has two half-siblings: Darko Ribnikar (* 1939, journalist) and Vladislava Ribnikar (* 1947, Slavist).
