Stanislaw Kukuryka

Stanisław Edward Kukuryka (born June 14, 1928 in Zemborzyce , Lublin , † May 12, 2010 in Warsaw ) was a Polish diplomat and politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied law at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin and graduated with a master's degree .

Between 1972 and 1982, Kukuryka, who was a member of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR), was President of the Central Association of Housing Cooperatives (Centralny Związek Spółdzielczości Budownictwa Mieszkaniowego). At the same time, he was elected on March 21, 1976 as a member of the Sejm , to which he belonged as a representative of the PZPR during the 7th and 8th legislative periods until August 31, 1985. Between 1980 and 1981 he was also a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PZPR.

From October 9, 1982 to November 1985, he was Minister for Construction and Building Materials in the government of Prime Minister Wojciech Jaruzelski . After that he was ambassador to Libya for some time . He later became, among other things, honorary president of the Association of Housing Cooperatives, took on other honorary posts and was involved in society for solidarity with children (Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Dzieci).

For his outstanding services in the construction industry and in public life, he was awarded the Commander's Level with Star of the Order Polonia Restituta in 1998. In addition, he was the holder of the Order of Smiles (Order Uśmiechu), an award given by Polish children to adults who are particularly committed to the welfare of children and young people around the world.

After his death he was buried in the Powązki cemetery in Warsaw.
