Stanislaw Lorenc

Stanisław Kazimierz Lorenc (born November 8, 1943 in Radlin, Gmina Jarocin , † January 19, 2020 in Poznan ) was a Polish geologist and rector of the University of Poznan.

Life

From 1961 to 1967 Lorenc studied geology in Breslau , where he received his doctorate in 1973 and qualified as a professor in 1982. From 1980 he taught at the University of Poznan , from 2002 to 2008 he was also rector there. In this capacity Lorenc worked together with the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) for the establishment of the German-Polish science and research institution Collegium Polonicum in Słubice . From 2009 to 2016 he advised Viadrina as a member of the Board of Trustees in German-Polish matters. From 2009 until his death, Lorenc was also a member of the board of trustees of the university support group, which awards the Viadrina Prize every year .

In 2005 Stanislaw Lorenc was made an honorary citizen of Słubice and commander of the Polonia Restituta order .
