Stanisław Józef Stefanek SChr (born May 7, 1936 in Majdan Sobieszczański , Poland ; † January 17, 2020 in Lublin ) was a Polish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Łomża .

Life

Stanisław Stefanek joined the religious order of the Society of Christ for Poles Abroad and the Archbishop of Poznan , Antoni Baraniak SDB , ordained him on June 28, 1959 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Forum Popilii and auxiliary bishop in Stettin-Cammin on July 4, 1980 . The bishop of Stettin-Cammin, Kazimierz Jan Majdański , ordained him episcopal on August 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Bolesław Pylak , Bishop of Lublin , and Jan Stefan Gałecki , Auxiliary Bishop in Stettin-Cammin.

On October 26, 1996, he was appointed Bishop of Łomża by John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI On November 11, 2011 he accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
