Stanislaus Papczyński
Stanislaus Papczyński ( Stanisław Papczyński , born May 18, 1631 as Jan Papczyński in Podegrodzie ; † September 17, 1701 in Góra Kalwaria ) was a Polish Roman Catholic priest and founder of the religious order of the Regular Clergy of Mary of the Immaculate Conception ( Marians , MIC). Stanislaus Papczynski was born on September 16, 2007 beatified by Pope on June 5, 2016 Francis canonized . His feast day is September 17th.
Life
Jan Papczyński joined the Piarist Order after graduating from school in 1654 and took the religious name Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary . On July 22, 1656, he was the first Pole to make profession in the Piarist Order and was ordained a priest on March 12, 1661 . He worked as a sought-after preacher and confessor in Warsaw , including as confessor of the Apostolic Nuncio and later Pope Innocent XII. (Antonio Pignatelli).
After disputes with his superiors about the strict adherence to the rules of the order he demanded, he left the Piarist order in December 1870. With the support of the Bishop of Poznan , Stefan Wierzbowski , he founded the Marian community. In September 1871 he put on the white vestment in honor of the Immaculate Conception . Under the title Norma vitae he wrote a rule of the order and in September 1673 he joined a hermit community near Skierniewice . A month later, the rule of communion under Papczyński's leadership was confirmed for the first time. On April 21, 1679, Bishop Wierzbowski canonically established the new community as a congregation of diocesan law. Attempts at papal recognition led to the affiliation of the community to the Franciscan order in 1699.
On June 6, 1701, he took the vows of the order before the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Francesco Pignatelli , and then accepted the vows of his first confreres himself.
Beatification and Canonization
The beatification process began in 1767, but was interrupted in 1775. After the resumption in 1953, Pope John Paul II awarded him the Heroic Virtue Degree on March 17, 1992 . The beatification was taken by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone on behalf of Pope Benedict XVI. on September 16, 2007 in the Basilica of Our Lady of Licheń .
On June 5, 2016, Pope Francis Stanislaus Papczyński canonized in St. Peter's Square in Rome.
