Stanislav Balán (born January 30, 1986 in Hodonín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract until January 2012 with HC Lev Poprad in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Stanislav Balán began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HC Zlín , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Czech extra league in the 2003/04 season . He scored one goal in four games. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the seventh round as a total of 209th player by the Nashville Predators , for which he never played. Instead, the center continued to run in the 2004/05 season for the U20 juniors of HC Zlín and in five games as a loan player for the team in his hometown, the SHK Hodonín , in the 2nd division, the third Czech division. The former junior international finally spent the 2005/06 season with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League .

From 2006 to 2011 Balán played again for HC Zlín in the Extraliga, and between 2006 and 2009 he was on the ice in a total of twelve games as a loan player for SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč and HC Dukla Jihlava in the second-rate first division . For the 2011/12 season the Czech was signed by HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . For the team he scored 16 games each one goal and one assist in the KHL. He also got seven scorer points in seven games, including three goals, for Lev's farm team HK Poprad from the Slovakian extra league . In January 2012, his contract was terminated prematurely.

International

For the Czech Republic Balán took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2004 , where he won the bronze medal with his team.
