Stanisław Zagórski

Stanisław Zagórski (* 1933 in Warsaw , Poland) is a Polish graphic and graphic designer specializing in commercial graphics and internationally known for his poster art . He lives and works in Warsaw.

Life

Stanisław Zagórski studied at the Art Academy in Warsaw until 1957. He was successful as a poster artist (especially for film posters ), book designer and illustrator . His posters were at numerous exhibitions, including one in Warsaw in 1961 and 1965; in Beirut , 1961; in Munich , 1962; represented in Copenhagen in 1963 and in various cities in Italy .

He won many awards with his posters, including the first two collective prizes in 1960 and 1961 for the posters " Lenin 1870-1960 " and " Millennium of the Polish State ". He received the “ Tadeusz Trepkowski Prize ” for the poster “ 300 Years of the Polish Newspaper ”. In 1963 he was in New York City and taught at the Tyler School of Fine Arts in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania .

In 1964, some of his posters were shown in the graphics department at documenta III in Kassel . He worked with Roslaw Szaybo for many years .
