The Stanley Patch is a shoal in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In Port Foster of Deception Island it is 3 km west-northwest of Fildes Point
Lieutenant Commander David Neil Penfold (1913-1991) of the Royal Navy , who was involved in surveying Deception Island between 1948 and 1949, named it after Stanley , capital of the Falkland Islands .
