Star Seimitsu KK ( Japanese ス タ ー 精密 株式会社 , Sutā Seimitsu kabushiki-gaisha , literally: "Star Precision", English Star Micronics Co., Ltd. ) is one of the largest Japanese printer manufacturers .
Products
Star is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange but is still a family-run company. Star's corporate history began with the precision machining of miniature components. The company then expanded its field of activity to include Swiss CNC automatic lathes , printers , micro-audio components and other products.
Star Micronics has a POS developed -Druckerportfolio, the thermal and dot matrix printer includes pressure and mechanisms for bar codes , tickets, receipts are suitable and labels. Star's technology has also been incorporated into the development of read / write systems for visual / smart cards (display cards) and magnetic stripe cards as well as the installation of printing mechanisms in multimedia kiosks .
history
The company was founded in Tegoshi, Shizuoka , in February 1947 and floated on the stock exchange in 1950 with a capital of ¥ 500,000. The company was then called KK Star Seisakujo ( 株式会社 ス タ ー 製作 所 , English Star Manufacturing Co., Ltd. ). It produced and sold wrist watches and camera components.
The sale of cam-controlled automatic lathes began in August 1958. In October 1960, Tōkai Seimitsu KK ( 東海 精密 株式会社 ) was founded in partnership with Citizen Tokei KK (now Citizen Holdings KK) to mass-produce wrist watch screws. September 1965 this company was taken over and Star Seisakujo renamed itself to its current name. The company moved to its current location in Nakayoshida, Suruga-ku , Shizuoka in September 1971 .
In 1977 Star Micronics America, Inc. was founded in New York , USA (currently based in New Jersey ). Star Micronics UK Ltd. was founded in 1984 in London , the company name changed to Star Micronics Europe Ltd. in June 2003 changed, and the company is now based in Buckinghamshire .
In July 1979 the first "mini printer" was produced by Star and in October 1981 the first computer printer.
In October 1990, the company was promoted to the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange . Star Micronics AG was founded in Zurich in October 1991 . The German subsidiary Star Micronics GmbH was created in May 2004 from the merger of four previous subsidiaries.
In March 2000, Star began manufacturing and selling microphones , speakers, and receivers.
Star Micronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was founded in March 2005 in Samut Prakan , Thailand . In September 2010, Star Micronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd opened a specialty products sales office. It replaces the Asia sales office that was previously based in Hong Kong , China .
In 2015, Star bought the automotive supplier HAY Group, which has its headquarters in Bad Sobernheim and Bockenau .
