The Starkenburg-Gymnasium Heppenheim is a state high school in Heppenheim . It was named after the Starkenburg .

history

In 2007 the school celebrated its 125th anniversary. It has been at its current location since 1967. The old school building was completely rebuilt between 2007 and October 2012.

Pedagogical concept / special features

Since the 2008/2009 school year, the grammar school has been offering afternoon care, which, in addition to having lunch, includes homework assistance and creative and sporting activities. In addition to music working groups, several media and sports groups, a literature and theater group and a psychiatry visitor group are offered.

The Starkenburg-Gymnasium maintains exchange partnerships with schools in West Bend (Wisconsin / USA), St. Petersburg (Russia) and Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt (France).

The grammar school has been a pilot school for the Bergstrasse district for the use of new media since 2006. After nine years of leasing notebooks, it has been possible to work with your own notebooks ("BYOD") from grade 7 onwards since 2016 as part of the "Learning in Notebook Classes (LiNK)" concept. The aim is to train people to use new media responsibly and carefully. In 2010 the grammar school was officially recognized as the first notebook school in the Bergstrasse district.

Classes are influenced by the use of laptops (there is a high-performance wireless Internet connection throughout the school building ) and by the use of interactive whiteboards and a learning platform ( its learning ). Starkenburg-Gymnasium is also a pilot school from its learning , which comes from Norway . There is a cooperation with Nesodden Videregående Skole, which is located south of Oslo.

The Starkenburg-Gymnasium takes and also took part in Comenius Regio projects in order to initiate exchange and cooperation in connection with the use of new media in schools with other European partner schools.
