Stary Kostrzynek (German Altcüstrinchen , Altküstrinchen ) is a Polish village in the Gmina Cedynia in the Powiat Gryfiński . The place has 104 inhabitants ( as of 2007 ). It is located directly on the Oder and therefore directly on the border with Germany, about 2 km from the border crossing point from Hohenwutzen to Osinów Dolny ( Niederwutzen ).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1299 in the form of "The Custrineken". For a long time it belonged to the Zehden monastery . The main source of income for the residents was traditionally fishing. With the relocation of the Oder and the drainage of the Oderbruch in the 18th century, they lost their fishing grounds. The place was renamed Altcüstrinchen after the establishment of the colonist village Neu Cüstrinchen .
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, a total of 704 inhabitants lived here in 87 households. The Kleinbahn Freienwalde – Zehden , which opened in 1930, had a station at Alt Küstrinchen (in this spelling), which was later renamed Johannesmühle . The fighting at the end of World War II caused considerable damage to many buildings. The best preserved part of the village is the southern section. In 1945 the tracks were dismantled. The place came to Poland.
