Staten Island Range Light (also known as Ambrose Channel Range Light ) is a lighthouse located backwards to the West Bank Light in the New York borough of Staten Island . The 27 m high tower stands on Richmond Hill ( Lighthouse Hill ) at a point 42 m above sea level and more than eight kilometers northwest of the West Bank Lighthouse. The light from the lighthouse is fixed and can be seen from a distance of 18 nautical miles. The base of the lighthouse is made of gray limestone , the tower itself is made of yellow bricks . The tower has an octagonal shape.
